Riding the Rails DVD jacket with vocabulary enhanced summary
- Today students set up a unit of study focusing on America in the 1930s, which will include informational readings and videos on the Dust Bowl, selections from "Riding the Rails", and conclude with Steinbeck's novel, "Of Mice and Men." Through class discussion, each class created initial concept maps on "Devastation"...these maps will be added to and revisited through classroom discussions (like today), individual reflection, and small group assignments, as we move through the unit.
- Students then reviewed & applied cornell note taking to increase their comprehension of an article on the 1930's Dust Bowl.
Check out some of the initial concept maps below!
